About us

Barbara Landbeck studied theater studies and new German literature in Munich before completing her studies in illustration and communication design at the HAW (University of Applied Sciences) in Hamburg. After 2 years as a moving image graphic designer at SAT 1, she and two friends founded Tivola Verlag in Berlin, where she developed educational games and heroes for children as creative director. Since 2011 she has been working as a freelance painter, illustrator and author of children's books (Carlsen Verlag, Jumbo Verlag). 

In 2014 she took over the renowned "Art School Simsalabunt" (now "KUNSTSCHULE IM ELBE") in which she also continues her painting courses for adults.

In the art courses for children, adolescents and adults, it is important to her to convey the joy of the process of artistic creation as well as various techniques (drawing with pencil and charcoal, acrylic painting, watercolor, oil painting, linocut, etc.) and to convey the precise observation and observation.

Rita Luizink studied clothing technology at the Albstadt-Ebingen University of Applied Sciences and worked for various fashion companies in Germany and abroad. Since her studies she has dealt intensively with the fine arts. Designing and experimenting, searching and finding in the material is her passion. In addition to her work as an art teacher for the art school in the Elbe, she works as a freelance illustrator for the magazine Handmade Kultur. She is regularly in creative work for the Theater-Altonale and develops costumes and props. 

Her courses focus on experimenting with many materials and techniques - especially with clay. Rita Luizink is responsible for the event organization in the art school in the Elbe.

Inga Dorofeeva studied illustration and communication design at the HAW Hamburg. She has drawn and designed for various publishers, magazines and theaters, organized and set up exhibitions, published screen-printed books and routed to agencies as a graphic designer.

In her lessons, the basics of painting and drawing are taught in an uncomplicated manner and the skills acquired are deepened. The pace is determined by the student. Once a basic set of skills has been built up, it is important to carefully accompany the creative process in order to enable further progress and to maintain openness to new things.

Dörthe Behrens studied commercial graphics in Hamburg and worked for many years as an art director in this field.

Since 2010 she has been particularly interested in the fine arts, especially painting. After a few years outside of Europe and various workshops with renowned artists, Dörthe Behrens has been working as a freelance painter since 2014.

In her children's painting courses, with her calm and empathy, she creates a productive atmosphere in which the children can try things out. In this way, they are introduced to the basics of drawing and painting in an informal way.

Sonja Lesinski works as a freelance photographer and visual artist. In 2020, she completed her master's degree in Intermedial Art Therapy.

In 2015 she completed her bachelor's degree in communication design at the HAW Hamburg with a focus on photography with Ute Mahler. It is particularly important to her to pass on the creative expression to other people.

 Anna-Lea Wiegard studied interior design at the University of Hanover and gained experience in various architecture offices, with a focus on educational architecture. However, she lacked contact with the children in order to involve them in the creative work. Now she is studying art therapy at the MSH and works at various primary schools, giving courses in clay design and creative building and handicrafts with a wide variety of materials. Above all, it is important to her to give children joy in experimenting.


Isabelle Kremm studied illustration at the HAW Hamburg with a focus on informative illustration and creative writing and works as a freelance illustrator.


Since 2017 she has been teaching drawing and painting in the weekly courses at the art school in the Elbe and directing children's birthdays and holiday courses. She would like to support the course participants in developing their own style through creative experimentation with a wide variety of materials and mixed techniques. Isabelle specializes in drawing techniques, printing techniques, painting and storytelling.
